    GENERAL INFORMATION

    The University of Szeged is taking part in an international project on vocational and adult education, supported by the European Union, with the title Establishing a Vocational and Adult Education Knowledge Base and Consulting Centre in the Southern Great Plain Region.

    Project content

    1. Website and knowledge base

    A vocational and adult education database containing a thematic collection of the most important European and international laws in the field, as well as professional and scientific documents and a database of reference sources.

    2. Course material development

    In the field of vocational and adult education there is a lack of teaching materials which are closely related to the curriculum of specific training programs. 16 course materials will be developed as part of the project:

    ·         Business for vocational and adult education trainers: Economy, business and management

    ·         Adult education marketing and communication (Service marketing, market research, PR, communication techniques)

    ·         Language for the world of work

    ·         Language for the EU project management and application

    ·         Developing job market services and competencies (Carrier and job market trainings, career socialisation trainings)

    ·         Social inclusion, equal opportunities and desegregation programmes in vocational education

    ·         Managing talent in vocational education (A talent focused quality control system in practical training)

    ·         Hungarian vocational and adult education: practices and experiences

    ·         Efficient methods in adult education

    ·         Mentoring experience with disadvantaged groups (Roma minorities, old-age citizens, the unemployed, people with low qualifications, people with disadvantages)

    ·         Practices for LLL mobility in member states (EUROPASS, EKKR, OKKR, ECVET, EQAVET)

    ·         The role of non-governmental organisations in adult education

    3. Training programme (training and content development)

    Containing both theoretical and practical elements, training programmes are one of the most efficient methods of transferring and disseminating knowledge. We wish to develop and hold a 6*8-hour “training the trainers” course.

    4. Presentation of best practices and developing workshops

    Workshop participants will prepare studies on best practices, which will be discussed in workshop sessions and then will be evaluated through video seminars. This will be followed by the development of specific teaching materials in the given topics.

    5. Video seminars

    The following topics of adult education will be discussed during 6 video seminars:

    ·         Training experts in Hungarian adult education: practices and experiences

    ·         Modern business and management for vocational and adult education

    ·         Efficient methods in adult education

    ·         Mentoring experience with disadvantaged groups (Roma minorities, old-age citizens, the unemployed, people with low qualifications, people with disadvantages)

    ·         Practices for LLL mobility in member states (EUROPASS, EKKR, OKKR, ECVET, EQAVET)

    ·         The role of non-governmental organisations in adult education

    6. Project closing conference

    An international scientific conference before the closing of the project which will provide a venue for summarising the results of the project. The conference will also provide an opportunity for researchers, teachers and experts to evaluate the present state of vocational and adult education, as well as the applied methods, the foreseeable trends and the goals to be reached.


    CONFERENCE INFORMATION

    The conference is realized with the support of the European Union.

    Conference theme: The scientific evaluation of vocational and adult education in an international setting; defining foreseeable trends; summarizing the goals, the applied methods and the results reached so far. The conference provides an opportunity for researchers, teachers and experts to evaluate results which have been reached within the field of vocational and adult education in Hungary and its neighbouring countries, as well as interpret them in the context of the EU’s education policy.

    In addition to the above, the aim of the conference is to provide a publishing opportunity to researchers who have professional, teaching or scientific achievements in the field of vocational and adult education.

    The conference also aims to provide a venue for the staff of the Gyula Juhász Faculty of Education to present the results of the SROP(Social Renewal Operational Programme) 2.2.4-11/1 project to the scientific public.

    Participation at the conference, delivering the presentations and publishing them in the conference book is free of charge.

    In addition, supported participants will also be provided two nights’ accommodation with full board from the budget of the SROP project.

    Free snacks and refreshments will be offered during the conference breaks, and all participants will be invited to a buffet reception.

    Travel expenses and extra accommodation beyond two nights need to be paid for by the participants.

    We offer the following optional touristic and wellness programmes for an additional charge:

    • National Historical Memorial Park in Ópusztaszer (Feszty Panorama, skanzen, etc.) (50 Euros)

    or

    • Wellness programme at the Szeged Aquapolis (40 Euros)

    The official language of the conference is English. Plenary speeches will be in English, while section meetings in English, Hungarian or Romanian.

    Abstracts must be submitted in English with a maximum of 15 lines at the e-mail address below. They will be evaluated by the editorial committee, who will contact successful applicants.

    Conditions of attendance

    All participants must fill in an application and registration form in advance. This applies especially to supported participants, who must guarantee to attend the conference. They must also undertake to provide a replacement if they are prevented from attending.

    Supported participants undertake to be present on all three days of the conference, which means they will use the accommodation for both nights. Programmes on the third day are optional. (Project budget spending is strictly monitored.)

    Supported participants are expected to give a presentation, which is the condition for free participation and accommodation.

    Supported participants are to sign a written agreement with the organizers which contains the terms and conditions of attendance and participation.

    Papers will be published in the conference book only if the participant has attended the conference and has delivered the presentation.

    Please mark on the application form which optional touristic or wellness programme you would like to attend for an additional charge. Costs should be transferred to the specified bank account, indicating “Conference attendance fee” in the reference box.


    PROVISIONAL PROGRAMME

    The three-day (2+1) conference starts on Thursday, 17 October with a plenary session, which is followed by section meetings and workshops on Thursday afternoon and Friday. For Saturday, 19 October we organize optional touristic and wellness programmes (Ópusztaszer, Szeged).

    Optional touristic and wellness programmes: Ópusztaszer, Szeged

    The plenary session will host six internationally distinguished speakers giving a 30-minute presentation each.

    In the section meetings (2-3 hours) we will have a maximum of 6-8 speakers per section, each holding a 15-20 minute presentation.

    Section meetings on Friday afternoon will be held only if there is enough number of participants. Otherwise, participants can attend the optional cultural and wellness programmes.
