SEMIOTIC TEXTOLOGY

Semiotic Textology, a periodical published by the Department of Hungarian  Language and Linguistics at the Juhász Gyula Teacher Training College in Szeged, was started with the aim of encouraging and promoting multi- and interdisciplinary research on textology. To serve this purpose, Semiotic Textology is intended to

(a) include studies whether they examine textological paradigms of the integration of different aspects and methods of various disciplines with each other or analyse specific issues related to different disciplines, informative descriptions of educational and / or research projects on the subject of textology or papers that discuss any other aspect of textology;
(b) contain reviews and criticisms of monographs or essays discussing results and problems of text research relating to those disciplines that are relevant to textology;
(c) publish bibliographies and repertories in order to obtain thorough knowledge of world-wide literature on textology.
According to the above points, the main sections of the volumes of Semiotic Textology are organised in area as follows:

Section (a), Studies: The studies published in the volumes of Semiotic Textology can be classified under several disciplines. Although it has not been declared explicitly in Volumes 1–8, the structure of the volumes is based on a framework of disciplines, a short overview of which can be found on the next two pages of this prospectus.

Section (b), Reviews and criticisms: The main concern of this section is to give a comprehensive and retrospective overview of publications written primarily in Hungarian about textology and related issues.

Section (c), Bibliographies: This section mirrors the section ‘Text Linguistics – Linguistique du Texte’ of Bibliographie Linguistique de l'Année with additional items that contain the description of the missing titles referred to in publications.

Section (d), Repertories: This section reports regularly the content of the monographs published in the series Research in Text Theory / Untersuchungen zur Texttheorie and Papiere zur Textlinguistik / Papers in Textlinguistics, as well as the content of the current volumes of Discourse Processes. A Multidisciplinary Journal and Text. An Interdisciplinary Journal for the Study of Discourse.

Both sections (i.e. ‘Bibliographies’ and ‘Repertories’) contain special parts related to the main topics of the volumes as well.

Sometimes two or more volumes form a thematic unit. Taking the concept of thematic units into account, let us overview now the structure of volumes (or groups of volumes), focussing our attention primarily on the Studies section.
