8. English language (HU, AT, PT)
For the lower primary school teachers foreign language mean linguistic competence on the one hand, and background knowledge on countries speaking English language on the other, their attitudes and values. The application-oriented actualisation of this country knowledge is a permanent task, as society in Europe changes so quickly nowadays. Knowing a language serves the establishment of equal opportunities within the European Union.
In case of the present English module the transmission of culture is strongly connected to multicultural education, as the holidays, customs and habits of the three participating countries are strongly related to multicultural education that transmits the values of tolerance and to the values of democracy. These poems, short stories offer the wide repository of didactic possibilities of education, that can be adapted to the needs and possibilities of the given country.
