Charles S. Peirce

Charles_Sanders_Peirce(1839–1914)

Amerikai filozófus, matematikus, akinek szemiotikai munkássága – elsősorban a Theory of Signs, és a Theory of Meaning című írása – meghatározó a tudományág elméleti megalapozásában. Peirce elsősorban alapfogalmak bevezetésével és jeltipológiája révén járul hozzá a szemiotika általános és átfogó elméleti kereteihez.
