1988-ban végzett a József Attila Tudományegyetem Bölcsészettudományi Karán. Kutatási területe a kulturális jelképek, az ikonográfia valamint a kultúraelmélet. Társszerkesztője a Szimbólumtár című kötetnek, tanulmányait szimbólum-kutatási, szemiotikai kötetekben közli. PhD dolgozatát „A mindenség hullámzó nászruhád” Istennői mítoszmotívumok Weöres Sándor költészetében címmel 2002-ben védte meg. 2002-től a Szegedi Tudományegyetem JGYPK szakcsoportvezető egyetemi docense.

Edit Újvári graduated from the Faculty of Arts of József Attila University in 1988. Her research field is cultural symbols, iconography and culture theories. She is the co-editor of the volume Szimbólumtár. She publishes her work in volumes of symbol research and semiotics. She obtained her PhD degree in 2002, the title of her dissertation was „A mindenség hullámzó nászruhád” Myth Motifs in the Poetry of Sándor Weöres. She has been an associate professor and head of department at the Juhász Gyula Faculty of Education at the University of Szeged

1981-ben végzett a József Attila Tudományegyetem magyar–orosz–20. sz-i orosz irodalom szakán. Bölcsészdoktori értekezését irodalomtudományból, PhD-dolgozatát a Miskolci Egyetem Bölcsészettudományi Karának Irodalom és politika doktori programjában írta Ünnep – emlékezet – hatalom (Politikai ünnepek jelentésváltozásai) címmel. 1982-től a Szegedi Tudományegyetem Juhász Gyula Pedagógusképző Karának docense, ünnep- és emlékezetkutatással, a tömegkommunikáció és tömegkultúra kérdéseivel foglalkozik.

Éva Szirmai graduated from József Attila University in 1981 majoring in Hungarian, Russian and 20^th Century Russian Literature. She wrote her doctor of arts dissertation (a doctoral title below PhD before 1993 in Hungary) in the study of literature and later obtained her PhD from the Literature and Politics Doctoral Program of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Miskolc. The title of her dissertation was Commemoration – Memory – Power (Changes in Meaning in Political Commemorations). She has been an associate professor at the Juhász Gyula Faculty of Education at the University of Szeged since 1982. Her research interests are commemoration and memory research, the issues of mass communication and mass culture.
