IX. 2. A model for teaching and learning in an environmental education project

A programme of environmental education should disseminate the views of educating from, about and for the environment.

  • Education about the environment, which is basic knowledge of and understanding the environment and our relationships with it.
  • Education in or from the environment, that is using the environment as a resource with emphasis both on planned inquiry and investigations and also on providing opportunities for pupils to engage in first-hand personal experiences within it.
  • Education for the environment, concerned with values, attitudes and positive actions.
