Basic position
Taking up such a position of a ready state, from which the student can move or change position the most quickly. Its name is basic or starting position, but in practice it does not mean a static standing. It is a kind of “vibration”, and what happens is the lowering or displacement of the body weight in order to perceive the game. In the basic position the legs are in a comfortable straddle, one foot is placed slightly ahead, the body weight is on both feet. The knee and ankle are bent; the trunk leans slightly forward, the arms are ahead of the body in a slant low position. The inclination of the knee determines what movement the student is preparing for or performing.
