OFFENSIVE BASIC POSITION, STARTING, STOPPING, PIVOTING

Hold the ball under your chest, press it there, drop it, and then catch it in basic situation.

The above exercise, with a tossed ball.

Dribble the ball with left hand during steady running, stop in one tempo for a sign (a sound or shown).

Dribble the ball with right hand during steady running, stop in one tempo for a sign.

Basic position, long start, 2 bounces with left hand, always to the right foot, stop in one tempo

Pivoting with left foot forward and back. 360 degrees to the right and 360 degrees to the left.

Basic position, long start, 2 bounces with left hand, always to the right foot, stop in one tempo, pivoting with right foot forward and backward.

Basic position, long start, 2 bounces with right hand, always to the left foot, stop in one tempo, pivoting with left foot forward and back.

Basic position, long start, 2 bounces with right hand, always to the left foot, stop in one tempo, pivoting with right foot forward and back

(Practise in a 5-sector line up)

DEFENSIVE BASIC POSITION, DEFENSIVE MOVEMENT

Taking the defensive basic position from running in place. (The position of the feet depends on the position of the offensive player; the position of the arms depends on the position of the ball)

Against skill exercises (in place), treading in place with the correct arm position.

Against dribbling skill exercises (in place), treading with the correct arm position.

Taking an after-step forward, back, sideways, following the lines assigned by the coach.

Learning the defense against a dribbler  (following the drawings of the dribble).

Learning the defense against a dribbler who is changing directions (After-step, learning quick/ running steps).

DRIBBLE (THE BALL)

Right-hand dribble in place, at hip level, changing the rhythm for a sign (alternating quick, slow, not high – low dribble, emphasising the power of bouncing the ball)

Right and left-hand dribble, high dribble for a sign, then low dribble for a sign.

Dribble forward – back and dribble sideways with after-step. The dribble is done with the hand that is in the direction of progress.

SHOTS

One-hand high shot from a standing position (shooting straddle, preparing the ball in and up, a pushing, shooting move for a mate or on the backboard.

Shooting a prepared ball on the backboard, three-finger shot, one-hand shot pushing the elbow.

Layup shot from stepping out facing the backboard.

One bounce, layup shot facing the backboard, then from a 45-degree angle

2 or 3 bounces, layup shot

Layup shot from dribble

Layup shot with a ball received from a pass

Jump shot, increasing the shooting range

TECHNIQUE UNDER THE BACKBOARD

Ball put up onto the backboard, jump for the ball taking the rebound from the highest point possible.

Landing on both feet facing the backboard, pivoting forward with the outside foot (on the left side, with the foot closer to the left side-line), shooting on goal from jumping with both feet. (R and L side)

PASSES

In a stationary position (set shot). In pair, with 1 ball, standing 2 or 3 meters from each other, facing each other. Two-hand chest pass with a step forward, with the left foot, then with the right one. Center of gravity on both feet!

The above exercises with two-hand bounce pass.

The above exercise, but with two-hand overhead pass.

The first three exercises, but the two players are in a 45-degree angle from each other. Cross-step.

Two-hand chest pass (from movement) with the ball received back from those passing running off.

Playing a lot without bounces, tag (catch the others).

GET RID OF (Movement without the ball)

Run back and forth, with pivoting, the distance between the three-point line and the semicircle in the penalty area. The technique of pivoting and starting!

The above exercise, receiving the ball from a passer at the three-point line, stopping in one tempo. Reception of the ball, then pivoting forward and back, toward the backboard.

CUT (running in, stepping back)

1 ball for a pair. The ball handler starts from the center circle dribbling, the partner starts from the semi-circle under the backboard and runs to the right/left forward (thrower-in) position. The ball handler passes to him, cuts (runs in), then steps back to the three-point line, receives the ball in one tempo (pivots forward), layup shot to the right and left.

1 ball for a pair. The ball handler starts from the center circle dribbling, the partner starts from the semi-circle under the backboard and runs to the right/left forward (thrower-in) position. The ball handler passes to him, cuts (runs in), then runs out to the weak side. The ball handler finishes the attack with a layup shot.

The above exercise, but after ball handler passes, he cuts, and a layup shot from the received ball.

(Explain what they do, and why. The position of the defensive player decides which choice is right.)

“C” cut (faking with 1 or 3 steps) into the opposite direction, cutting (running in) toward the ball.

Explain “S” cut or backdoor (back cut = running in at the back).

BLOCK-OUT

Impact or collision with the offensive player, but at least touching him (fight for the rebound).

OFFENSIVE REBOUND

Start for the offensive rebound; get/secure the ball again.

COMPLEX EXERCISE:

Basic position (on the left side), start with left hand, with a fast break, after 2 bounces (both to the right feet) stop in one tempo, passing to the partner sideways to the left (pivoting, turning to the partner), get rid of the partner (run ahead and step back (touching the cone as a help)), reception of the ball with pivoting in one step, fast break again with left hand, layup shot from dribble.

The above exercise with the other hand.
