The technique of underarm contact

In addition to setting, another mode of contact is the underarm contact, which is safe and its application is as common as that of setting. Keeping the ball that was started by a serve in play, and then playing, it is based on the successful performance of underarm contact. It is useful primarily to avert an attack, so that the opponent cannot score a point directly from a serve; the contact has also a major role in organizing the counterattack. It is typically a first contact, but in addition to the serves, it is also used to defend against hits or spikes, and at any ball contact where forwarding the ball by setting is impossible or already impractical.
