Straight overhand serve

The straight overhand serve is one of the most widely known serves, and it is very often used. It is recommended to teach it after the straight underhand serve, as its performance is much more difficult than the underhand serve. However, students with adequate prior training can easily learn it, and a strong, precise and fairly safe serve can develop. It is an important point that we deal with the instruction of this opportunity to serve, as the reception of the balls sent over this way also require a major technical performance. With lightened rules or by narrowing the court it is possible to acquire and practise the straight overhand serve. As players get more skilled and stronger, the serving zone can gradually be moved back, at practice even to the end line, until students manage to perform it precisely.
