Categories of passes

  • According to the number of hands involved: with two hands or with one hand
  • Passes with two hands: front, overarm/ overhead (upper). underarm (lower), pushing, setting (basket contact)
  • Passes with one hand: overarm (upper), jump, underarm (lower), in front of the body, behind the body, wrist, pushing or tossing the ball
  • Other passes: handing the ball over, rolling, passing with dribbling, hitting the ball

  • According to the way of the ball: shot, bounced, bent
  • According to distance: short, long
  • According to direction: straight, forward, backward, sideways, cross
