The structure of the ”Mini” basketball game

In process of instruction we deal with those technical elements that can be applied in one-on-one and 2-on-2 situations.

First the four rules of mini basketball must be taught, and these must be connected one after the other with the help of such playful exercises that are initially very simple, and then become more and more complex with the development of the players.

  • Rule 1: No walking or running with the ball in hand, therefore the ball must be dribbled. Dribble the ball.
  • Rule 2: Goals must be scored for winning; the ball must be shot on the opponent’s basket (goal) as many times as possible. Shot on goal.
  • Rule 3: It is impossible to play alone, the victory must be achieved together with the others, therefore you have to pass. Passes.
  • Rule 4: To achieve victory, we must not let the opponent score goals, therefore we have to defend the area around our basket. Defense.

It is very important that after teaching and acquiring the correct techniques, children should also practise in competitive situations, after attaining an adequate technical level, in offensive and defensive balance.
