The tactics of attacks

The objective of the team is to score points for the team by attacking properly, thereby to win the match. Every student must actively take part in the attacks, which are united and coordinated for the sake of success. The main point with beginners or at school trainings is that the ball is played as long as possible, with the three contacts that are permitted. Students should be made aware that everyone has a task on the court, depending on the order of positions they are in. As at this stage, we cannot really speak of actual positions, we must try to create teamwork, communication, and that the ball can always be played.

The ball contacts in attack:

  • First contact – defensive contact
  • Second contact – tactical contact to prepare the attack
  • Third contact – sending the ball over to the opponent’s court
