Hotel wellness

Wellness hotel is an establishment, which  meets the standards of a min. 3* hotel and, in addition, employs trained staff to provide gastronomical, sports, relaxation, and wellness services, as well as social  programmes.

 Minimum standards of wellness hotels are as follows:

  1. Minimum two different types of saunas or steam baths,
  2. Min. 1 indoor pool,
  3. Min. 4 different types of beauty care services including face care, manicure, pedicure and hair dressing.
  4. Min. 6 different types of massage or other similar services to improve patients’ general condition.
  5. Traditional, reform and vegetarian dishes and drinks
  6. Well equipped fitness room , cardio machines and professional trainer,  PE teacher, or sports coach.
  7. Min.4 different types of leisure time sports programmes or oriental therapies need to be offered.         (out of which min 1 aerobic training)
  8. Min. 3 different types of social, cultural, musical and/or arts programmes on offer and providing opportunities to explore nearby sights and leisure time opportunities.
  9. Min. 1 wellness specialist working in the morning and in the afternoon shifts.

When building a wellness hotel the location is of primary significance.

  • What are the geographical conditions of the place?
  • Is there an airport nearby to serve guests from abroad?
  • Is it easily accessible on road, or by means of public transport?
  • Is the climate pleasant?
  • Other issues ( consumer needs, competition)

 Wellness hotels need to offer the following services:

  • thermal water, or, medicinal bath      
  • jacuzzi, steam or aromatic baths,
  • sauna (Finnish, infra, or dry steam )
  • massage ( Swedish, medical, Mauri, Thai etc. )

Optional new services:

  • Sound and light therapy ,
  • Oriental therapies
  • Special beauty treatments
  • Programmes boosting the immune system

II. Saunas and steam baths: ( min. 2 types of services)

  • body and/or face pack with algae
  • aroma therapy
  • skin care counselling, products sale
  • manicure, hand care , artificial nails
  • pedicure, foot care
  • ultrasound face and body care
  • infratreatment,  deep heat treatment
  • fitohormones, fitoagents etc.
