Information on the pool

Before entering the pool we should familiarize ourselves with the area surrounding it. It is important to know what dangers can be found in the area. e.g. wet and slippery areas, stairs,  ladders, equipment for measuring water depth. The ideal temperature of water for an aquafitness training session is 28-30 C. If the water is colder than this, the intensity of the training should be increased or the session should be shorter. In water warmer than 30 C, the intensity needs to be reduced and low-intensity aerobic exercises or static muscle conditioning or stretching can be performed. Humidity of the air is a factor that is difficult to control. It can be recommended to have a bottle of mineral water near the pool. It is an interesting fact and hard to notice that while doing exercises in water we are sweating, too, and this is why it is important to drink and to make up for fluid loss.  The depth of water in the pool might vary from the very shallow (90cm or below) to the deep (180 cm or deeper). This variety makes it possible to offer a wider range of exercises. The ideal depth is waist-high or chest-high because this water level would protect the lower part of the back.
